End of term harvest!

Hi everyone,

The environment group has been very busy this week and we have spent the last couple of days getting our garden beds ready for some new planting. We have harvested our last remaining veges and the children were so excited to take home their beetroot and silverbeet.

Thanks for stopping by.

Produce from the garden

Here are photos of some of the amazing vegetables we have grown and harvested so far this year. We can't wait to make some yummy soups and salads with these. What veges can you spot?

If you spotted broccoli, cauliflower and celery then kapai, you are correct!

We have also planted some leeks and spring onions.

Thanks for stopping by.

Worm Tea!

Hi Everyone,

The environment group have been very busy looking after our vegetable gardens but also making our own worm tea! At school we have a worm farm that we feed special food scraps to and these worms produce worm tea. Worm tea is the worms excrement and is a delicious drink for your soil. It contains many nutrients that help support plant growth and longevity.

Here are some photos of us bottling our worm tea at school.

First we need to collect the worm tea and stir it, then we bottle it and label it.
You can even buy some to use in your garden! Just ask at the school office.

Thanks for stopping by.

We have had a busy first few weeks of school weeding and tending to the vegetable gardens.
They got a wee bit overgrown during the holidays...

Here are some photos of us hard at work.

Welcome back to 2018!

Hello everyone,

The PCS environment and sustainability group is back up and running for 2018. Today was our first day out in the gardens and it sure was a busy one! We had to clear out the old plants and weeds that had dried out over summer to make room for the new vegetables we want to plant.
Here are some photos of us hard at work!

As you can see we are gardening superstars!

Strawberries in Season at PCS

These healthy and yummy cauliflower and cabbages are actually from our vegetable garden.  We get to take these home for our mums to cook for our dinner.
All our hard work paid off!
