Term 1 planting!

The environment group have been very busy preparing the school vegetable beds and getting them ready for some new produce. We were lucky enough to have the wonderful Mr Deeds share some of his gardening expertise with us and over the past two days we have been planting; celery, pak choi, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach and silverbeet.  Here are some photos of us hard at work.

Keep checking back to watch our plants progress :)

Welcome back to 2018!

Hello everyone,

The PCS environment and sustainability group is back up and running for 2018. Today was our first day out in the gardens and it sure was a busy one! We had to clear out the old plants and weeds that had dried out over summer to make room for the new vegetables we want to plant.
Here are some photos of us hard at work!

As you can see we are gardening superstars!

Strawberries in Season at PCS

These healthy and yummy cauliflower and cabbages are actually from our vegetable garden.  We get to take these home for our mums to cook for our dinner.
All our hard work paid off!

Wonderful Worm Tea Sale

Wonderful Worm Tea

Worm tea may not sound too appetising but your plants will really love it. Worm tea is a liquid produced by worms, which is high in nitrogen, and when diluted with water makes a highly nutritious plant food, as well as an effective fungicide and insecticide. Worm tea lets you fertilise with something that is really nutritious for your plants. The beneficial micro-organisms contained in the worm tea are absorbed immediately by the soil and plants in your garden very quickly.

You can buy this amazing fertiliser from our school office. We have two worm farms on site. A group of dedicated student gardeners who look after it and carefully collect the worm tea into bottles on a regular basis.

Worm Tea will be for sale on Friday 11th August from 8.00 -8.30am at our school entrance gate.
These bottles of garden goodness are available for $2.50 a bottle or 3 for $7.00.
